| I am aware that if a browser visits our charon cart site with cookies "off" the cart will not display any content. Is there either a workaround for this or an alternative to using client cookies at all, e.g. a database object which stores the session info currently saved to the client cookie for the session and kills itself after a period of time? |

| Hi Julian
I appreciate the problems, however I am coming across more and more folk failing to access my clients cart contents because they have IE privacy settings above the level allowing unrestricted cookies, worse- this setting appears to be in place without them realising it. If so it may be a Microsoft standard IE install setup or a setting put in place when they install their ISP dial-up. This indicates a growing problem for any cookie based cart system.

| Hi
Well the P3P policy seemed to sort out the browser situation, however now I have another poser.
My clients site does really well in a lycos.co.uk search - BUT lycos returns the site into a frame! This seems to disable the cart. Lycos do provide a break out of frame link, click this and the cart starts working again.
I guess this is what Julian referred to as URL cloaking.
OK so apart from putting a message on the website about how to solve this if you came via lycos, has anyone ... |

| Hi Russ
I did try to post a big thank you for your help and advice. It was right on target and we now have a number of smooth P3P enabled sites with cookie carts running properly due to your help.
My browser threw a wobbler when I submitted the thanks and the message never got posted.
